by Lewis Grassic Gibbon in A Scots Quair.
Lewis Grassic Gibbon Centre
Lewis Grassic Gibbon, author, went to school
in Drumlithie. He was born James Leslie Mitchell in 1901 and spent
most of his boyhood in Kincardineshire (now Aberdeenshire), the
setting of A Scots Quair a trilogy of Sunset Song, Cloud Howe and
Grey Granite. The Lewis Grassic Gibbon centre is nearby
(5 minutes by car) at Arbuthnott, nr Inverbervie.
Brechin Model Farm
For young and old alike
this is well worth a visit. Farm machinery, a model train, adventure
play area and a boating pond all surrounded by friendly farm
animals. There is also a visitor centre and restaurant.
House of Dun
The House of Dun lies 20 mins south of
Drumlithie not far from the Brechin Model Farm.
Stonehaven Open Air Heated Pool
Throughout the summer
months the Art Deco style heated Stonehaven Pool is a great
attraction for those wishing to swim in the open air without having
to take to the sea.
